Learn to Salsa Dance!

This 6-week salsa dancing course teaches you the basics of Salsa and is open to everyone of all ages. This class will be taught by the YMCA’s Ito every Friday night, starting January 01/06/23 every Friday in the Multi-Purpose Room. You do not need special clothing for shoes to participate!

This beginner salsa dance class is a 6 week program starting Friday, and occurs every Friday until February 10th.

Member Fee: $50.00 ( 6 week session )
Non-Member Fee: $75.00 ( 6 week session )

Drop-In

Member Fee: $10.00/session
Non-Member Fee: $15/session

Salsa dancing is a mixture of several Latin dances, including tango, mambo, and flamenco, with each region adding its own flavor to the dance. Because of this, there are several styles of salsa, including Cuban, Miami style, Afro-Latino, and Colombian salsa. During the entire dance, the upper body is level, all movement takes place in the lower body. This leads to the swinging hip movements salsa is known for. In addition to being an effective and fun form of cardio, the movements being concentrated in the lower body make it a great workout for your hips, legs, and glutes.
