Wellness and Chronic Disease Programs
The Greater Johnstown Community YMCA (Y) offers a variety of Wellness and Chronic Disease Programs to members of all ages so that they might enjoy a more healthy and fulfilling life.
Our trained professionals can show you through our facility, help you kick-start your fitness journey, and assess your individual needs to create a customized program that will help you reach your goals. Our areas of expertise include:
- Strength and Mobility
- Aging Populations
In addition to Wellness Coaching (personal training), we offer Sports-Specific Coaching for a wide variety of sports including Basketball, Swimming, and Track & Field. All Wellness and Sports Coaching sessions are one-hour-long with the exception of swim instruction, which are 40 minutes in length.
Community-Based Chronic Disease Programing
In communities across the nation, the Y is a leading voice on health and well-being. For over 15 years, the Y has driven innovation in prevention and control of chronic disease to improve quality of life, save lives, and reduce healthcare spending. With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Y delivers tangible results in scientific evidence-based chronic disease prevention and control. Across America, Ys are increasing opportunities and policies promoting physical activity, expanding health and wellness initiatives, and offering health care solutions and education outside the traditional healthcare model.
The Greater Johnstown Community YMCA is proud to offer a wide-variety of chronic disease prevention and control programs and meeting the expanding needs of our region. Taking a community-based approach to health care, our team is able to deliver medical care and education in a community setting at low or no cost as part of our mission to combat chronic diseases in our region.
